LITTLE CAESARS PIZZAŽ TEAMS UP WITH THE DETROIT TIGERS TO SERVE HOT PIZZA MEALS TO PEOPLE IN NEED

Little Caesars Love Kitchen will continue feedings for two weeks in support of S.A.Y. Detroit

DETROIT – The Little Caesars Love Kitchen, with the help of the Detroit Tigers, will provide fresh, hot pizza meals for people in need in Detroit beginning January 21 at the Capuchin Soup Kitchen. In support of the Little Caesars Love Kitchen, Detroit Tigers pitchers Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer will participate in the serving as part of the annual Detroit Tigers Winter Caravan.

Detroit Tigers to serve hot pizza meals to people in needEstablished in 1985, the Little Caesars Love Kitchen is a big-rig pizza kitchen on wheels. It travels across the continental United States and Canada meeting the needs of the hungry, the homeless and disaster survivors. Since its inception, the Little Caesars Love Kitchen has fed more than two million people in need.

The Detroit Tigers Winter Caravan is an annual tour that offers an exciting line-up of appearances throughout Michigan with stops in Allen Park, Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids, Howell, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Mount Pleasant, Rochester Hills, Saginaw, Southfield, Sterling Heights, Taylor, Troy and West Bloomfield. Tigers players, coaches, broadcasters and executives spend two days traveling by bus across the region, spreading baseball fever to Tigers fans of all ages.**

The Detroit Tigers are owned by Little Caesars’ founder Mike Ilitch, who along with his wife Marian, opened their first Little Caesars restaurant in 1959 in Garden City, Michigan. Little Caesars is now the largest carry-out chain internationally with restaurants on five continents.

“Little Caesars Pizza created the Love Kitchen to provide quality meals for people who need them, and we’re honored to have the Detroit Tigers participate in a feeding and join us in giving back to our hometown,” said Brian Pattison, Midwest zone vice president, company operations, Little Caesar Enterprises, Inc. “We are also proud to continue our support of S.A.Y. Detroit by serving soup kitchens and shelters in our community for the next two weeks.” The Little Caesars Love Kitchen will visit 11 sites and feed more than 2,500 people over two weeks.

S.A.Y.(Super All Year) Detroit, a non-profit organization working to help the homeless population in metro Detroit, was founded by Mitch Albom in 2006 during Detroit’s hosting of Super Bowl XL. Little Caesars became involved with the organization when Ilitch Charities made a significant $150,000 contribution to fund an infant care center for Coalition on Temporary Shelters (COTS) in Detroit, which opened in 2008.

"Sadly, Detroit's homeless population continues to grow; therefore, so does the need to provide nutritional meals for those in need," said Mitch Albom, best-selling author, columnist, and founder of S.A.Y. Detroit, a charity that strives to help the homeless.  "I commend the Little Caesars Love Kitchen for its tireless efforts to feed the hungry and for its continued support of S.A.Y. Detroit."

In 2008, a second Little Caesars Love Kitchen was added to make a difference for more people across the United States and Canada. Since its beginnings, the Little Caesars Love Kitchen has fed over two million people in 48 states and three Canadian provinces. It has also responded to disasters such as the floods in North Dakota and Iowa, Hurricanes Ike, Katrina and Rita, the site of the World Trade Center attacks in New York City on Sept. 11, 2001, and the 1995 Federal Building bombing in Oklahoma City.

Local Little Caesars franchise owners and company regional offices donate all food and labor for the Love Kitchen servings. An estimated 50,000 Little Caesars franchise owners and employees have volunteered their time over the years to support the program in their local communities.

Throughout the next two weeks, the Little Caesars Love Kitchen will visit:
